Helping people move to the next level and push toward their dreams is Katie’s passion. “No matter what our personal or professional role, we often get stuck in that rut in the road, using the same communication, decision making and relationship strategies over and over again. When the environment shifts around us, we need to shift our approach to find effectiveness in our relationships and careers. My job is a coach is to be a mirror, listen, and help you find a way towards productivity.”

25 years of professional experience

Katie brings more than 25 years of experience to her profession as an executive coach. Leaders and organizations across multiple industries leverage her coaching and counseling skills, science-backed assessment tools, and business acumen.

Advanced Degrees and Certifications

Katie is one of an elite group of coaches certified by the International Coach Federation as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). Katie is a Licensed Master of Social Work, and holds Masters’ Degrees in Social Work and Business Administration. Professional certifications include training as a Certified Behavior Analyst, a Korn Ferry™ 360 certified coach, and licensed to administer the Strengths Deployment Inventory (TotalSDI).

Diverse Experience

Katie’s clients – from emerging leaders to seasoned executives – count on her help to enhance functional areas and leadership skills. Her coaching experience includes work with leaders from automobile sales, energy, engineering, healthcare, education, insurance, manufacturing, petrochemical, retail, and public utilities industries. 

Prior to founding Momentum, Katie owned and operated a successful strategic planning consulting firm for more than 12 years. She also worked as a therapist at Louisiana State University’s Mental Health Center. Katie began her career with the Estee Lauder Companies, in New York City, last serving as Worldwide Marketing Manager for Origins Natural Resources. 

Community Service

Katie serves on Jewish United Fund’s Health and Human Services Commission and related Cross-Commission Disabilities Working Group. In addition, she is a committed partner of Social Venture Partners (SVP) Chicago. The organization invests time and money in innovative nonprofits that have the potential to make meaningful and sustainable improvements within the Chicagoland community. She also serves on the board of trustees for the Woodhall School, a small boys school in Connecticut from which her son graduated high school. Past experience includes serving as the Chair of the Emerge Foundation, and board service for the Emerge Center, Kids’ Orchestra, Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center, and Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

Family

Katie and her husband, Erich Sternberg, recently relocated to Chicago. They have two children, Jake and Hallie.
